Pastor Don Thomas
Hi,
I'm Don Thomas, pastor of Brownstown and Emmanuel United Methodist Churches. I would like to welcome you to our website, on which I will keep you informed of church and community events.
We would like to invite you to our church services and events which are posted on the website. We, at our churches, do our best to bring bible based sermons every Sunday. We are loving and family oriented churches and have an open door policy that all are welcome at our churches and events. Please come and enjoy a Sunday morning worship with us.
In God's Love,
Pastor Don Thomas
Did you know, once a month Pastor Don drives to Bloomington, IL to pick up food for our local food pantry? Along with the pastor, volunteers package, then disperse the food to local families in need. How awesome is that? Please keep these volunteers and their mission in your prayers. Thank you! (And remember, donations are appreciated.) Folks, please note that our food shipment amounts have decreased. We ask that you please pray that doors will open to allow us to meet the needs of our community, our people, to ensure that no one goes hungry. All prayer and all help are greatly appreciated.
Did you know there are over 300,000 Gideons? Did you know, not only do they pay annual dues to be a Gideon, they pay all of their own expenses? This is because they are committed to giving out free bibles to spread God's Word! All are asked to open their hearts to give to this wonderful cause, to help in spreading God's Word.
The pastor invites you to come to our churches, either Emmanuel or Brownstown, for traditional gospel and traditional songs. You will be welcomed as we ask you to become a part of our family, of God's Family. We hope to see you soon.
Did you know Pastor Don has been asked to preach at the St. Elmo nursing home. Yes, oh yes!!! He will be on rotation, preaching once a month on Sundays and then doing bible studies Thursdays, also on a rotating basis. We are excited about this opportunity for our pastor to spread the gospel.
Besides pastoring 2 churches, and his new ministry with the St. Elmo Nursing Home, Pastor Don is also president of the Golden Years Club in Brownstown which is very active in the Helping Hands Food Ministry Food Giveaway. All help is appreciated!!! Awesome! The building has been built and is now being used, however, there is a bit more to be done. Please keep the volunteers and this project in your prayers. And again, donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Each Sunday Pastor Don gives the churches, Brownstown and Emmanuel, updates of shut-ins he has visited during the week. Also at that time, we discuss and expand our prayer list, then pray for those on our list along with our first responders. When disaster strikes, we have a prayer chain that sends calls out immediately for prayers. We are a giving church and a praying church; we believe that prayers make a difference and that miracles can and do happen.
